After 21 months of composition with Jeremy Harmer, the world premiere of Island is with us! Being performed at Ely Cathedral on Saturday 21 March from 7-8pm, the family concert will feature 200 primary school children from the Ely/Cambs region, the Ely Sinfonia conducted by maestro Steve Bingham, two choirs including Colchester Institute’s “Cantores”, Ely Cathedral choristers and the Ely Imps, plus Tim Pells on guitar and all narrated by Jeremy Harmer. Thanks to Roz Chalmers and the team at Ely Sinfonia. It’s a narrated children’s story about reconciliation, eco-sustainability and a dog named Bubble! The other piece performed will be Hereward – a tale of the fens, by Richard Brown.
Tickets available via the Cathedral box office. Free parking is available at the Cathedral Car Park on Barton Road.
Here’s a demo of the backing track but it will be all live on the night.
I’ve also written a Walton-esque overture but that will be performed another time.
